Some of our lightest pieces are the most worked on. The leaf vine here is first printed onto the cloth, then returned to the embroiderers, who outline each leaf in a green scallop stitch, run a fine maroon vein down its middle, and settle a few sequins and knotted buds where the light should catch.
It rests on an airy ivory kota-style cotton — a fine, open weave that breathes through a long afternoon — with a whisper of a self-print on the yoke. The vine climbs the kurta front in dove grey with the faintest blush of peach; a plain steel-grey bottom keeps the whole thing calm, and the dupatta carries the leaves along its borders between woven geometric blocks and a grey selvedge.
